During the first days of your child’s schooling at Prayag Montessori, it is imperative for either one of the parents to stay with the child, while they are at school (probably 3 to 4 days). It would be ideal for the child to come in by himself or herself, but this can be difficult for our young ones. We understand that your child may feel anxious with us in the initial days, and it would help them settle better if a parent is around. We start school a few days early for the newly enrolled children. Once our senior children come back to school, parents will not be allowed into the environment.
Prayag starts at 09.30am and children are welcomed at the gate by the adults of their environment. Adults arrive early and prepare the environments for their children. The children remove their footwear before entering the environment, as they are greeted with a ‘Namaste’ by their adults and akkas.
Once the children walk into the environment, they take their mats, unroll them and choose the material they want to work with (in the areas of Exercises of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language or Arithmetic).
Adults are there to help and guide the children when necessary. Work starts the minute the children walk into the environment. When they feel hungry anytime during the day, they are free to have their snacks at the snack corner.
Once they finish their snacks, they can either go back to working with the material or join a group presentations in Language, Geography or Biology.
Later in the course of the day, children generally take a break for rhymes or storytelling. They could also be invited into the interactive zone, audio-visual room or they could just work with anything they want - Any material work/ clay/ colouring/ completing any written work (Language or number work).
Different programs like Theatre, Science Experiments, Yoga, Music & Movement, Art & Craft, Fireless cooking and Fitness & Games sessions are conducted across our three Montessori levels. We work Monday through Friday from 09.30 am to 01.30 pm.
On Fridays, it is usually fun time at Prayag for all children. While Pre-monts & First years have Craft & Art Activities, Second & Third year children have Science experiments, Fireless cooking, and Art & Craft as their extracurricular activities. Culture is a strong binding force in societies and every child is rooted in a culture that influences their lifestyles and attitudes towards life. All major festivals are celebrated in Prayag which helps develop tolerance, understanding and respect for a harmonious social living.
